The Florida Food Recovery Coalition utilizes local community connections and an established state-wide network to increase food security, reduce food waste and protect the environment. Through partnerships with over 50 organizations in government, non-profit, and private sectors, FFRC champions the vision of reducing waste and feeding Floridians.

The Florida Food Recovery Coalition is a growing dynamic group of individuals and organizations that are passionate about reducing waste and feeding our communities in Florida.
The Coalition meets virtually on the last Wednesday of the month at 11am EST, unless otherwise indicated.

2021
UF/IFAS Extension specialists Emily Grant and Kelly Wilson began conversations about food recovery activities across Florida, leading to statewide outreach to establish a coordinated network.
2022
Monthly meetings launched with the creation of vision and mission statements, website development, and establishment of co-chairs Emily Grant and Gil Zepeda.
2023
Expanded communications through LinkedIn and participated in Food Waste Prevention Week with "It's a Good Friday to Stop Food Waste, Florida" featuring virtual and in-person events on school food recovery, large-scale event recovery, and gleaning programs.
2024
Food Waste Prevention Week "Be a Food Waste Hero, Florida" highlighted innovative solutions including community fridges, vacation donation programs, and partnerships like the Miami-Dade Schools Share Table initiative. Members and food rescue leaders delivered 14 presentations sharing best practices and innovations.
2025
Welcomed co-chair Stephanie De La Hoz and began collaboration with the Zero Food Waste Coalition. In partnership with Zero Food Waste Coalition, successfully advocated for Florida Senator Rick Scott to co-sign the Food Date Labeling Act.
2026
Grew to 113 members statewide representing municipalities, nonprofits, composting companies, and other organizations, with increased focus on policy advocacy supported by Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinic.
